Default Phalaenopsis IDs

Hi!

Thanks for taken a look first off. This is my first post! yay! Anyway, I have been taking care of Orchids in the past for multiple years and sadly let them expire as I left for college and lost interest.

Now that I've graduated, I have found myself getting back into my old passion and hoping my green thumb is well, still green...

These are two Orchids I purchased both as Schunks.. I know the one is an Phalaenopsis hybrid for sure and I highly doubt it can be ID'd but its worth a shot. Any ideas?

Second, Is the purple flowering Orchid that has very small flowers (to me) and has thin (about an inch wide) leaves that are about 8 inches long.. The flowers are a bit ruffled, and plentyfull.. (I cut off 1 stem already that had turned brown.) I believe this is full grown, and just hasn't been dwarfed in some manner? If thats even possible with orchids.. If you have any idea what its been crossed with please let me know.

Lastly,

My boss has an Orchid that neither one of us has any idea of the species. I tried to take pictures, but my phone has been acting up so I apologize I'm just going to describe..
-It has very long thin leaves 2-3ft long about 1-2 inches wide.. Leaves remind me of over grown Oncidium leaves.
-Looks like it might* have a pseudobulb thats about 3inches tall and rather round, but the base of the leaves cover it completely. It grows as a Symbodial, and has about 6-8 leaves on each pseudobulb. *My boss says it has big yellow flowers* but he doesn't have any pictures of them and it hasnt flowered in years. *I'm going to divide it within the next few weeks, it looks like it was repotted years ago into a soil and bark mix!* Surpisingly it has a couple new grows and I'm going to focus my attention on those because they havnt started rooting yet! So I guess why I'm trying to find out what type it is, so I know if its Terrestrial or Epiphytic so I repot it correctly. I know its an orchid by looking at the roots and just the way it grows.

If no one has any ideas, I will have pictures up after I repot it in a few weeks.. I will be repotting it into a Bark, Charcoal, Perlite mix by then.

Thank you for all your ideas, I hope I can find an answer..

Unfortunately, there are way too many obstacles to a reliable identification of hybrids:

1) There are simply too many hybrids out there that look similar
2) Siblings can look like entirely different
3) The same hybrid made with different parents can look entirely different

And then there is hybrid complexity. There might be great similarity between (A x B) x C and A x (B x C), even though they are different hybrids.

From the leaves, they both look like phals. Unfortunately they'll have to remain noid phals, for as Ray says, they're very difficult to identify.
