The Bow Bells Revolution - 'Orchids' mag
I was struck by the Black and Flory greenhouse picture. Look how low the roofline is (compare to the door). Its rather dark, too, no? Compare to just about any picture of today's bright, huge greenhouses. How in the world did they expect someone to reach the far side of the bench against the wall, much less water the orchids? No under-bench plants nor any hanging overhead. No plastic pots. And how did they manage to have 100 Bow Bells seedlings to sell to McDade in a time before flasking made having seedlings a sure thing? Much less have them arrive alive after being shipped from England to Tennessee in time of war, its not like the FedEx truck arrived daily. Incredible. My how times have changed.
Nice article, and nice issue.
