AFAIK there's nothing you have to do. The award is given to you. If you've owned the plant for over 6 mos you qualify. If the plant's name needs to be registered you have to do that (see the RHS orchids registrar for the application, fee about $16.50)

Eventually the AOS will send you the paperwork to pay for the award. You pay the fee and voila.
