I am pretty sure the label of this plant had a few other names on it but unfortunately it has been years since the label was legible. This plant has proven to be a hardy survivor, it has been in my collection for so many years I have actually forgotten when I got it. My guess is that is harks back to the time when "french spots" were all the rage in the Hamptons. Through it all this plant has kept blooming, producing one or two flowers at a time for months and years on end with an impressive indiference to care or neglect. By dint of persistence it has won a place in a collection where Phalaenopsis are notoriously absent.
This plant spent from 2006 to 2009 hanging from a tree in the forest near my house with no human care at all. Why the plant was there is a story too complicated to tell now. The leaves were insect eaten but several inflorescences showed that it had been blooming regularly. In the summer of 2009 it returned to my terrace where it greets visitors with its cheery flowers.
