Default Dendrobium glomeratum

I love the bright color of the flowers of this interesting plant. Unfortunately due to reasons that are not clear, it is not growing well. However it flowers from time to time althoght with fewer flowers that it would if it were growing well.

How lovely. Are you growing this one mounted, Ricardo? Do the canes grow very long?

It is growing in a pot, maybe that is the problem. I am waiting for the dry season to start to change it to a mount. The canes are about one feet long. IOSPE doesn't give an adult cane size, it just declares that the plant is a "small sized ephiphyte".

I had one (got an award on it too) the canes were about 3 feet tall. Tom Perlite (Golden Gate Orchids) keeps these in small clay pots. Mine did better in a pot and trained to stand up rather than pendant. YMMV

We don't have much luck w/ Den glomeratum in SE Florida but we have one of Tom Perlite's Den. Hsinying Chrysopense (glomeratum x chrysopterum) in bloom right now. One clone 'Tewksbury Sweetie', received an AM/AOS (81 points) in 2006. It's a very nice cross and seems to do a bit better in our climate.
