Cool Dendrochilum wenzelii 'Jeff's Red Wheat'

My plant of Dendrochilum wenzelii can be said to be almost indestructible. It grows and blooms every year with an almost supernatural capacity to adapt to full sun, shade, deep shade, too wet, too dry, lots of fertilizer, no fertilizer, black rot, pot bound, pot too large, S/H. the list is pretty long of the things this plant has tolerated with little complaint. Things that would make a Cactus faint and expire on the spot have been shrugged with indiference by this amazing plant. The flowers are tiny and lovely but a challenge to photograph due to the overlapping arrangement in the inflorecence.

Attractive, interesting and obviously determined to survive. A terrific combination. Ricardo, I couldn't help but smile reading your witty commentary.

Surprisingly quite a few people have told me that they have lost this plant. Apparently I live in a place that's really good for it. Thanks for your comment!

Count me amongst those that have lost the plant. It grew really well for me for years then went into a decline and pfft! That was it. I've been hesitiant to replace it because I know it is often mislabeled as another species - and of course my feeble brain can't remember what the other species is...[grrr....I hate when that happens] so I've been stymied.
