A while back I wrote some simple code to utilize the flickr API to display my society's flickr group photos on our website. Here's the
non-formatted version and here's how our webmaster
formatted it for our website.
The code is available to any interested societies but the catch is that their website hosting service has to support .net (aspx) files. Didn't think that it applied to the AOS as their website utilizes .cfm files but then today I read the
new website additions notice and saw that their
source directory section utilizes .aspx files.
So in theory, the flickr gallery page should work fine on the AOS website...if the AOS is interested in adding a flickr gallery to their website. Probably the first step would be getting the flickr group for the AOS going. One has already been created but it just needs to be modified a bit.
As I mentioned elsewhere...Flickr, by far, sends the most traffic to my society's website. If the AOS encouraged flickr members to add their best photos to the AOS flickr group then it would probably provide some good exposure for the AOS.
If the AOS is not interested then...well...enjoy some great orchid photos courtesy of the OSSC.
