Wow!!! for a first pic posting you started off with the bar set pretty high!!! Great growing!!!! At the US Botanic Garden Production Greenhouse we often call this one Den. "aggravatum" (in honor of the fact that if you don't give it a cool dry winter rest... you don't get no flowers :-) Nicely done.

What type of potting medium is that den planted in? Also, is the basket lined with anything? Did you make the basket or purchase it?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm still learning my way through this all and I ask a million questions, but then again that is how one learns new things, right? LOL.... Thanks!

thank you Marci!

Mike- hahahaha yes they are a stubborn one, they like to hold those flowers from you, but I do know how to coax them out. It simply refused last year to bloom for me, yes...truly (aggravating/tum)but this year I put it in my cold room (which stays about 65 degrees F and withheld the water, ...extremely, untill the bulbs were wrinkly, then late January brought her out into my living room and hung it in a east facing window, and voila! Flowers....

learningtoletgo- I belive it is called tree fern fiber, ( not a fan of it) it was planted in this when I bought the plant many years ago. It was literally falling out of the basket it was in with these chunks just rolling around the basket. The orchid was only 2 or 3 bubls when I got it. Anyways i didnt want to get too "repot" happy, so I took it out of the basket (it was just laying in there) lined it with a bit of spaghnum moss for moisture and put it back into the basket along with the chunks of tree fern fiber.

It took along time for it to take hold again, and throw out some roots, but it did and I just left it. The basket came with the plant, however i do make my own wooden baskets if i need them. they are very easy to make. Hope that answers your questions, feel free to ask away, I'm more than happy to share whatever knowledge i have.

Jodi
