Cattleya Hardyana semi-alba with five flowers
My Cattleya Hardyana plants were brought as small seedlings and are still relatively young. Since they started blooming they have usually produced three well presented flowers per inflorescence. But one of the plants produced five flowers, which were not shown to good advantage due to the fact that the inflorescence is too short and they are all bunched together. Hopefully as the plant matures it will produce a larger inflorescence. I used to have a heirloom Catt. warscewiczii plant that regularly produced five flower inflorescences. The inflorescences of the warscewiiczii were a sight be behold as my plant sometimes held as many as five at a time. I wonder if the Hardyana will do the same when the plant is fully mature (that is when it has four full sized pseudobulbs). and when it has several growing points. But for the moment I am enjoying this nice, but crowded inflorescence. The fragrance of the flowers is strong and heavenly!
