Default Where do you cut a Phalaenopsis stem after it's done flowering?

Mine is relatively young. The flower stem that's actually producing buds and flowering is about a 10 inches tall. There's also a smaller stem that's maybe 5 inches tall with no buds. I seem to read different things from different sources. One says (on an American Orchid Society video) to just cut the stem completely on a young plant (which was about the same size as mine). Others say doing this will cause it to rebloom. Most others say cut the individual flower stem about a quarter inch out from the node to encourage reblooming----but don't over do it! This might exhaust the plant.

Since mine are young (and I'm brand new to orchid culture), I want to give them some more time and energy to grow so I'll enjoy more flowers next blooming season. but I'm not sure where to cut the stem (oh, and fyi, some sources say don't cut the stem all the way back until it's drying out. And they top that off by saying this could kill the plant or at least retard its growth). wTf???

Anyway, any clarification will help. Thanks a lot.
