beautiful! I love the green border. I wonder if this is usual? It almost looks like spots have coalesced.

The color pattern is the commonly expected one for the macrophylla ssp macrophylla. I prefer the dowiana to the macrophylla but I certainly like all of them.

Lycastes are one my favorites and many of them are blooming now with many others in the spring. They do tend to be large and require high light which makes them unsuitable for some hobbyists. If you have the proper space, try some.

They are all lovely and I would be tempted to try one except that I am space poor. May I observe that your photos, although beautiful, are extremely large and I am unable to see them in the entirety without having to roll down the screen. Perhaps it is just my monitor?
