Default Growing under Fluorescent Lighting

To the group,
I read the article in this months magazine about growing under light and am completely captivated. I need to know about the bulbs, when shopping for bulbs there is bright white which is also labeled full sprectrum (5000k) and daylight (6500k), are either of these suitable for orchid growing? I have some under compact fluorescent right now and the seem to be doing great (spikes on a dosen Phals!!!)
I also need to learn more about candlepower, I do have a light meter but the instructions group all orchids together with other plants that need that particular level. I have a feeling it is a little more technical that that.
Any information would be greatly appreciated, AJ Mladinich
Added 5-30-09 I posted 2 photos in my profile album if you would like to see. As things progress or not I will up date. AJM
