Default Coelogyne parishii specimen plant

Coelogyne parishii is one of the group of green flowered plants of this genus that grows well under warm to intermediate conditions. Its tendency to produce two leads on each pseudobulbs every growing season, when given good care, means you can grow a specimen plant in only a few years. This plant has been with me since 1984 and has survived well all the sort of calamities that commonly sent most orchid plants to the great clay pot in the sky. The green and black flowers are lovely and the plant is much more compact than the large Coe. pandurata or the rambling Coe. mayeriana, both of which are species clsely related to this one.

That is quite a specimen. How large is it exactly? What size is the pot?

The 2009 growths are coming along nicely and with them the promise that in 2010, when they will burst into bloom, the plant will produce its most prolific blooming yet.
